Robert L. McDonald , M.D.
Family Practice
Dr. Robert McDonald joined the Family Practice Department here at Cassidy Medical Group in March 2008. He has previously practiced as an ER Physician and a Family Practice Physician in ambulatory and urgent care clinics as well as served as the Medical Director, Eagles volunteer Mobile Medical Unit from 2004-2006 where he organized teams for Tsunami relief in Thailand and for Hurricane Katrina and Rita relief south of New Orleans, LA.
Dr. McDonald is Board Certified with the American Board of Family Medicine. He attended Montana State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Biomedical Science Program. Dr. McDonald earned his Medical Degree from the University of Washington in 2001 and received Honors as an Indian Health Pathway Track Graduate. He completed his Family Practice Residency at the University of North Dakota in 2004 where he served as Chief Resident for a term in his final year. Dr. McDonald also consulted on cultural competency, provided training in HIV/AIDS treatment to physicians and community leaders who cared for Indian patients in five western states with the Northwestern AETC.
Dr. McDonald holds Professional Memberships with the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Medicine Wheel Society, the Association of American Indian Physicians and the American Indian Science & Engineering Society. He has also contributed greatly to the community by organizing a free clinic at Chief Seattle Center for homeless Indians, organizing sports physicals at Seattle Indian Heritage High School, hosting Native American Cross-Cultural Medicine conference and offering free blood-pressure checks/diabetes screening Health Care Booths at Native gatherings. Dr. McDonald also authored "The Indian Diabetes Project", a critical literature review: UCONJ 530, Issues in Indian Health.
Dr. McDonald is married with one child. Some of his interests include motorcycles, wild horses, playing the guitar and sky diving.
